Experience

Amy Hirter joined HBC in 2009. Prior to joining the firm she was a partner at Sherman & Howard and of counsel with Holland & Hart, both large regional law firms.  During more than 20 years of practice Amy has represented Fortune 100 companies, as well as small and mid-size businesses, in U.S. and cross-border business transactions. She specializes in software licensing, U.S. and international joint ventures, U.S. and cross-border mergers and acquisitions, international distribution arrangements, unique strategic relationships involving specially-tailored contracts, the international sale of goods and services, management and services agreements, establishing foreign operations, outsourcing/offshoring, the creation of foreign investment vehicles and cross-border employment arrangements. Amy has in-depth expertise in the software, professional services, television programming and media sectors.

Amy serves as vice-chair of the ABA International Law Section's Mergers, Acquisitions and Joint Ventures Committee.

Amy is also the firm's representative to "10 for Change" and to the Sustainable Systems at Work roundtable sponsored by the Boulder Chamber of Commerce, in which participating businesses examine technologies and strategies to achieve environmental sustainability.

  • Represented a U.S. software provider in its licensing and support services transactions worldwide.
  • Represented a U.S. joint venture party in negotiating with a Chinese counterpart in the management consulting field.
  • Represented a U.S. client in negotiating European contracts for custom development of software to operate medical equipment.
  • Created a joint venture to acquire and operate a U.S. regional sports television network.
  • Represented several U.S. companies with respect to foreign distribution contracts.
  • Counseled several clients with respect to limited liability companies and stockholders' agreements.

  • Supervised a large U.S. media company's foreign counsel worldwide.
  • Counseled a European luxury goods manufacturer in connection with its U.S. distributorships.
  • Represented a multinational health care industry client in its lease/purchase of VOIP telephony equipment for its affiliates worldwide.
  • Determined the foreign regulatory and antitrust requirements for a client's acquisition of control of a prominent U.S. multinational telecommunications company.
  • Represented a multinational media company in connection with negotiating and documenting numerous cross-border television programming agreements.
  • Represented a Chinese joint venture party in connection with establishing a global internet platform.
  • Represented a major U.S. media company in the sale of its DBS satellite television interests in Colombia, Chile, Brazil and Mexico.
