Experience

Lucy Kennedy Walker joined Hutchinson Black and Cook in 2018 along with her colleagues from Robinson Hungate, and she became a member of the firm in 2023. She represents both property owners and contractors throughout Colorado in defect and construction contract disputes. She also represents individual and corporate clients in a wide range of real estate litigation, covering everything from property rights and boundary disputes to homeowners' association and road and access issues.

As part of the Employment Law team, Lucy works with clients facing all manner of legal issues, including discrimination claims, wage and hour disputes, and breach of contract actions.  She also counsels both corporate and individual clients on issues involving employment agreements of every type, including employment contracts, non-disclosure agreements, separation agreements, and others. She enjoys working with employers on compliance issues and has developed a particular interest in drafting handbooks and corporate policies.

Lucy also has experience in Title IX and victim advocacy work, and she is part of the Civil Rights group at HBC.

Lucy graduated cum laude from Boston College Law School, where her studies focused on the wildly different, but no less interesting, fields of American Indian Law and Outer Space Law. Prior to law school, Lucy worked in the energy industry, including two years in France working for a natural gas company.

In what free time her two young children leave her, she is an avid runner and hopes to summit every fourteener in Colorado that doesn’t require ropes and a helmet.  Lucy also insists on commuting to the office on her bicycle even in inclement weather.

Lucy is a member of a local boxing gym where she takes her role as an instructor very seriously. She is also in a Boulder-based choir that doesn’t take itself seriously at all. She also volunteers with a local animal rescue and fosters dogs.
