Experience

John Greer joined HBC in 1988 after spending a year as a Fulbright Scholar at the University of Auckland in New Zealand and several years as a commercial litigation attorney with a large Los Angeles-based international law firm. John's practice focuses on employment-related litigation and counseling and civil litigation. He represents a broad range of corporate and individual clients in federal and state courts, before federal and state administrative agencies, and in arbitration and mediation proceedings in matters involving employment-related disputes (including claims of discrimination, wrongful discharge, breach of contract, misappropriation of trade secrets, violation of non-competition and non-solicitation agreements, and wage and hour disputes); general commercial disputes (including breach of contract claims, construction disputes, claims against corporate officers and directors, and professional negligence actions); and environmental-related disputes (including groundwater contamination claims, nuisance and trespass actions, and claims against environmental professionals). As part of his employment-related practice, John counsels and advises corporate and individual clients on a wide variety of employment related matters, negotiates and prepares employment-related agreements (including employment agreements, non-disclosure agreements, non-competition and non-solicitation agreements, employment separation agreements, stock option agreements, employee handbooks and personnel policies), conducts internal investigations into workplace matters, and provides training to both management and non-management level employees on employment law compliance issues.
